Ariel Healing is an independent healing practice based in Bristol. It has primarily been set up to help animals and humans through holistic healing. It also aims to raise the public's awareness of animal welfare and to support animal sanctuaries world-wide. Healing can benefit all creatures, domesticated or wild - guinea pigs, rabbits, terrapins, cats, dogs, horses or elephants - size isn't an issue.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM RUNNING HEALING CIRCLE AND SUPPORT GROUPS for animal healers or those interested in following this path. If you would like to join us, please contact me for further details and check out my 'News' section for dates and other events.
Healing is the channelling of universal healing energies through the healer to the recipient. It is a completely natural complementary therapy with no harmful side effects. As healing works on the 'whole' being, both people and animals benefit from it on physical, emotional and psychological levels. In recent years, increasingly more people have been turning to healing to help them cope with the stresses of modern life. Animals also respond well to healing. It supports recovery from surgery and helps them cope with chronic and age-related conditions.
Healing energy:
- aids the body's ability to deal with illness or injury
- boosts the body's natural immune defences
- encourages relaxation in mind and body
- calms and soothes in times of stress or change
- brings comfort in the later stages of life
- supports those coping with bereavement
- complements other therapies and conventional treatments
Alison Saunders is a fully qualified and insured member of the Healing Animals Organisation (HAO), which was founded by Elizabeth Whiter to provide training and a register of professional healers (for animals and humans) that can be accessed by the public, animal rescue centres, charities and vets. Another important role of HAO is to fund-raise and do voluntary work for rescue centres in Britain and overseas. You can find out more about HAO activities and training on the official website www.healinganimals.org
Alison adheres to the HAO Code of Conduct which includes The Animal Healer's Promise to treat all animals and their carers that come to her with compassion, integrity, respect and kindness, to be honest in all her dealings and to maintain client confidentiality.

Under British law, animal healers must not make a diagnosis or advise clients to follow or disregard any course of veterinary treatment. Healing is a non-invasive, gentle yet powerful holistic therapy. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognises as acceptable, in terms of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, the complementary treatment of animals by contact healing, by the laying on of hands and distance healing by thought transference or prayer in strict accordance with the provisions and spirit of the Code of Conduct. Animals suffering from ill health or trauma must first be seen by a veterinary surgeon and veterinary consent should be sought for animals already undergoing medical treatment. Healing to maintain good health and well-being may be given without veterinary consent.
Members of HAO are insured through Balens and are required to keep records of every treatment for a period of seven years. The information within is completely confidential and cannot be disclosed without the client's consent unless required by the law, the client's vet or for the protection of a third party in an emergency.
The first appointment will always involve discussion of the consultation form, which will be sent to you beforehand. This form includes important information about your pet such as the vet's contact details, past medical history, diet, daily routine, behavioural issues and present veterinary treatment if applicable. There is an abridged version for people. This will give you a chance to get to know Alison and to ask any questions before the healing session itself. There will be an opportunity afterwards to discuss any issues that may have come up and Alison may make some suggestions to benefit you or your pet.
