NEWS & EVENTS!!!

2012 Healing Circle and Support Group

Our meetings will be on the second Sunday of every month except for July.  Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre hold their annual Healing Weekend on July 6th, 7th and 8th.  I will be there to support the Healing Animals Organisation - we offer healing to pets to help raise funds for Secret World.  I'll post details of this event nearer the time.  Hope to see you there!!

HEALING CIRCLE AND SUPPORT GROUP

I'm very happy to announce that I'm starting up a healing circle and support group for existing animal healers or those who would be interested in following this path.  Our monthly meetings will include guided meditations, healing practice and of course a chance for discussion and exchange of ideas.

The first meeting will be on Sunday, December 4th 2011 from 2 to 4.30pm.  Please contact me by email alisaunders7@yahoo.co.uk or phone 07547043588 if you are interested.

Bristol Dogs and Cats Home annual Christmas Fair will be held at the Dogs and Cats Home (next to the RSPCA clinic) on Albert Road in St. Phillips.  Fellow Bristolians, please come and support this event as the home is overflowing with over 100 dogs, many cats and other small furry animals - all need extra care over the cold winter months.

Doors open from 10am until 2.30pm, entry is 50p for adults and free for children of 15 and under.  There will be stalls, fundraising games, refreshments and Santa's Grotto - so plenty to do for the whole family!  You can also go around and see the animals - you never know, you may find that perfect companion and give it a forever home in time for Christmas.

I'll be on duty from 12 to 2.30 at the 'Guess the weight of the cake' stall and will be happy to chat to anyone about animal healing and what it involves.  Hope to see you there!

Hollyhedge Animal Sanctuary held their annual fundraiser at Ashton Court Park.  We went along to lend our support.  Alice was delighted to see her previous foster mother who looked after her so well for her first few months in Hollyhedge before we adopted her! She had been handed in aged 9 weeks old.  She also loved running across the fields and meeting so many other dogs.  Hollyhedge do a wonderful job and it was great to see so many people out and about despite the menacing rain clouds!

Secret World Wildlife Rescue held its annual Healing Weekend in the extensive fields around its centre near Highbridge in Somerset.  This is an amazing opportunity to support the work they do rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife while also having a truly enjoyable experience!  Spacious marquees are packed with arts and crafts stalls and therapies of every kind are on offer.  And there's plenty of entertainment with music, dance, various workshops and food stalls for the whole family to enjoy!

Elizabeth Whiter goes there every year with the Healing Organisation Tent and a band of volunteer students and graduates, including myself, who offer healing and advice to the many people who visit with their pets.  It was wonderful to be with the HAO 'family' again!  Elizabeth also gave a couple of workshops: one about animal healing and the other about animal communication.  Our Staffie, Alice, was delighted to participate and enjoyed 'talking' to so many humans!

'Friends of Redcatch Park' organised a Family Fun Day at Redcatch Park, Knowle, Bristol.  I tried to raise as much money as possible for Bristol Dog's Home through selling jumble.  There are currently over 100 dogs at the home so any donations and voluntary dog walkers are extremely welcome.  My stall was by the dog show ring and near the zoo tent with its tarantula and stick insects!  I also sold raffle tickets to support Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Somerset.  It was a beautiful sunny day and it was great to meet other animal lovers.  Thanks also to my able helpers: my husband, Dave, and our young Staffie, Alice!

I recently got back from an intense but fascinating visit to South Africa where I assisted my trainer, Elizabeth Whiter, with healing work in animal sanctuaries in the Nelspruit and Johannesburg areas.  We visited Chimp Eden, created by Jane Goodall for rescued chimps who were previously neglected or abused.  We also worked with animals in the Second Chance Wildlife Rehab Centre and the Highveld Horse Care Unit plus various dogs and cats we met along the way.  Our trip finished with a successful one-day workshop with 50 participants.  Elizabeth was also able to give two radio interviews and a talk at Skoobs (Jo'burg's new bookshop) followed by book signing.  Our ten days were jam-packed!

The Healing Animals Organisation hopes to continue their relationship with these animal sanctuaries through further visits from voluntary healers as well as fund-raising activities to support the invaluable work they are doing.  We are so grateful for the warm welcome the animal carers gave us and for the opportunity to share and exchange our knowledge and skills.  For more details about their work, please see their websites:
